Who decided to do the DOT107 project?
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Input was gathered from the public by NCDOT. This is a North Carolina state-owned highway and not a Town of Sylva or Jackson County project. Discussions and various plans for making the traffic through town better have been ongoing for over 20 years. The Southern Loop, an attempt to bypass the busy part of N.C. 107, was one idea that met strong public opposition.
I would like to have a party at the park. How do I reserve that park and what is the cost?
In order to reserve the Park Pavilions you would need to come by Town Hall to make the reservation. Park reservations are first come first serve. Three parks pavilions can be reserved: Poteet Park, Bryson Park, and Bridge Park. Poteet and Bryson Park have a fee of $25.00 per two hour block for residents who reside inside city limits and $50.00 per two hour block for all others. You may also rent the Bridge Park Pavilion at $50.00 for four hours for residents who reside inside city limits or $75.00 for all others. The Bridge Park Pavilion can also be rented for eight hours at $100.00 for city limit residents or $125.00 for all others. The fee must be paid before the reservation is final.
What days does sanitation pick-up occur on?
The Public Works Department performs trash and recycling pick-ups on Mondays and Wednesdays. Brush pick-ups are performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on your route. White goods are picked up on the same day as brush. Please see our Sanitation Routes map for more information!

What are Town Hall’s hours?
The Town Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM through 5:00PM, except for Federal holidays and weather emergencies. Feel free to stop by or give us a call during our business hours!
What is required when opening a new business inside Town limits?
When opening a new business, you need to come by Town Hall and apply for a business registration permit. This requires the “Business Registration and Occupancy Inspection Form” be completed along with a fee of $200 which is due upon submitting the forms. These forms can also be filled out online from the Town Applications page. The application is sent to the Jackson County Fire Marshal and zoning office for inspection. Once our office receives approval from these inspections, we can issue a business registration permit for the new business.
Town Hall is located at 83 Allen Street.
